The Beatusweg Route - walking in the footsteps of history
The pilgrim Beatus gave our Beatenberg mountain its name. He battled the dragon to free Beatenberg from fear and terror.
Walk along the 3.5km-long hiking path in the footsteps of Beatus, experiencing the interesting history behind our village. Delve into unique nature and experience the mysterious power of the Beatus saga. A path for nature lovers, culture vultures, children, families and groups.
The biographical ‘Erich von Däniken Weg’ lets you discover the life of the world-famous bestselling author and citizen of Beatenberg, Erich von Däniken. The “EvD” path, as it’s called by locals, starts in Beatenberg at the Niederhornbahn valley station and leads to the Wydi car park in the Spirenwald along a gentle, easy path. The 3.5km-long path can be easily tackled with suitable outdoor prams/buggies.
The playground behind the tourist centre (Tourist Center bus stop) offers plenty of chances to move around and have fun for young and old:
You can easily combine a visit to the playground with a hike along the Beatusweg path or with a visit to the swimming pool.
