Pony Rides

Wednesday - Saturday on request, April - Mid June, July - August, Mid September - November

Children’s rides on Icelandic horses. Children can help with cleaning and saddling the ponies before heading out on a guided tour of the beautiful Waldegg. After the ride, the pony can be given a treat.

Suitable for: children from the age of 5, with or without riding experience
Duration: short (40 mins) or long (60 mins) tour
Price: from CHF 25.00 / Child (changes subjected)

Rides on Icelandic horses for advanced riders:
Independently clean and saddle the pony before heading out on a guided tour of the wonderful area around Beatenberg, then unsaddle the pony and give it a treat.

Suitable for: children and adults with good riding knowledge
Duration: 60 mins or 90 mins

Cheese-Making Experience in the Justistal Valley

Visit an Alpine lodge in the romantic Justistal Valley to find out how real Alpine cheese is made. The cheesemaker will be happy to answer your questions. You’ll also be served a small Alpine farmer’s meal.

Tuesdays from June to September. Available on Fridays on request.

Swiss Raclette in the St. Beatus caves

The St. Beatus caves at the Lake Thun are a famous tourist attraction in the Bernese Oberland. Since 1904 guests from all over the world have visited the caves. The new offer allows you to enjoy a candle light swiss raclette in the St. Beatus caves. This experience will provide you with unforgettable moments.

November till April, every Friday, 06.00-09.00 p.m.

Visit to Festung Waldbrand, a place of unrivalled experiences, high above Lake Thunersee.

Every Friday, July & August, every 1st & 3rd Friday in May and June, on reguest every Friday, November till March

Visit to the Fischbalmen Bunkers

We will guide you through the authentic Fischbalmen infantry bunkers, where you can learn all about the Swiss Army’s defence system from the beginning of the 2nd World War until the end of the Cold War.

Suitable for children and adults, unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible

Official tours: from March - November 2017 from 2:10pm and 3:40pm on the following dates:

Hear the Nettles Grow

Create your own tea blend: on an adventure walk through the area surrounding Beatenberg, herb connoisseur and chemist Markus Metzger will show you a range of native medicinal plants. You’ll find out a wealth of interesting information about these plants, including how to make them into medicines. You’ll then get the chance to mix your very own herbal tea.

Niederhornbahn Offers

Nature and Game Watching

Experience ibex and Alpine roses up close and personal: the early bird really does get the worm. As the first visitors of the day, you’ll be taken up the Niederhorn on a special trip. A local wildlife specialist will accompany you towards the Gemmenalphorn to the ibex colonies. With a bit of luck, you’ll also discover chamois, groundhogs and the king of the air - the golden eagle.

Autumn Wonder

Are grey November days getting you down? Then travel with us towards the sun. We’ll take you up the Niederhorn during the maintenance season in November and December. Up here, you’ll be overtaken with a feeling of wide, open space that makes you want to spread out your arms and fly. Enjoy views of the impressive Nebelmeer and the majestic mountain panorama.

Each Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the railways and the self-service part of the railway house are in use. The Autumn Wonder offer applies from 12th November to 09th December 2018.
